Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital

In the 1960s, Barrington-area residents launched a grassroots fundraising effort to build Good Shepherd Hospital. Since it opened in 1979, philanthropic neighbors have continuously supported the hospital’s evolution from a small community facility to an award-winning regional resource for exceptional care. Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is nationally recognized for safety, nursing excellence, heart care, cancer services and more—its accomplishments are impressive.

With charitable support, Good Shepherd Hospital has completed its multi-year, $25 million Look Forward campaign for our campus modernization project. Now open is the beautiful Paul and Barbara Hills Center for Advanced Care, the new north pavilion with all-private rooms and much more.

Funding Priorities

To continue the hospital’s commitment to excellence, we created an endowment to allow us to continue to respond to the health care needs of the community as circumstances and needs evolve now and in the future. This will ensure access to care, support clinical services, increase efficiencies, and update equipment and facilities as determined by the hospital’s President.

The Center for Cancer Care at Good Shepherd Hospital has a multi-specialty team of oncologists, surgeons, dedicated nurses, spiritual counselors and complementary specialists with expertise in the latest cancer-fighting treatments and techniques. Philanthropy allows us to acquire the latest technology including robotic-assisted surgery and advanced interventions in radiation therapy—and provide that extra measure of care to our patients.

At the Kocourek Family Cardiac Care Center at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, we offer advanced, life-saving cardiac services from interventional cardiology and electrophysiology to minimally invasive surgery and coronary bypass. Your gift will help us purchase state-of-art technology, expand our services and elevate patient care.

Good Shepherd Hospital is dedicated to meeting the health needs of its patients and the communities it serves. Your support of the Community Health Fund will allow the hospital to bring health and wellness programs into the surrounding areas. Programs can include obesity in preschool and early elementary school, prescription assistance and veteran services.

The Emergency Department never closes its doors, never takes a day off, and the staff is committed to delivering compassionate quality care to every patient, every time, from admission through discharge. Philanthropy helps advance technology, support caregiver education and develop programs.

Integrative health and medicine at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital offers a unique resource to treat the root cause of disease and help people live well. The combination of conventional treatment and complementary methods provides a holistic, personalized approach to achieving optimal health and well-being. Integrative medicine offers coordinated, evidence-based therapies that have proven results to reduce pain and speed up recovery for patients.

Our Patient Health Navigators monitor, oversee and motivate patients throughout their health care journey. Your gifts will help the hospital fund navigator positions and provide them with the tools they need to coordinate care, allowing the patients to focus on their health.

The President’s Fund for Special Needs is designed to provide our leadership with the financial flexibility to make annual investments that extend access to care, educate medical staff, nurses and team members, invest in our facilities and improve patient care. Support of the President’s Fund for Special Needs will have a direct impact on the entire hospital and will help us better serve our patients and community.

Good Shepherd Hospital offers the newest technology and highest quality standards in women’s health. Your gift will help support women at all stages of their health care journey, including our obstetrics program and Level II+ special care nursery.
