During our lengthy stretch of gray weather this January, I found a major source of sunshine in reviewing the results of Illinois Masonic’s Comprehensive Campaign! On December 15, we celebrated the Campaign’s conclusion when the Philanthropy Council members and donors to the Center for Advanced Care (CAC) gathered in the new structure.
The campaign kicked off three years ago as we assembled in a tent on the future site of the CAC. The tent is long gone, supplanted by a state-of-the-art building designed to be “user-friendly” for everyone: patients, families, physicians and associates. For a nice story about the CAC, you can see the November 2015 issue of Healthcare Design. While the patient care and education that takes place within it was our major goal, it’s nice to also be recognized for the functionality and esthetics of this significant addition to our campus!
So many people have worked so hard to make this and other visions come to life. Group efforts aren’t always sufficiently valued—think of all the jokes about “committees”! But our Comprehensive Campaign was the product of a seamless focusing of collective vision, hard work and enthusiasm. Our Philanthropy Council; the Masonic orders continuing their century-long commitment; the physicians and associates who not only spend their professional lives within the hospital, but who also give so generously as donors; our community; and the patients and families who have benefited from our care continue to work together to keep us not just surviving, but thriving as one of Chicago’s most trusted sources of care, education, and outreach.
With this achievement comes even greater enthusiasm for the next set of goals. What a privilege to be part of such a wonderful group!
