Join a giving society

We offer two giving societies to recognize donors for their generosity and commitment to the patients, families and communities we serve. Our annual giving and planned giving societies offer a way for donors to connect and to learn more about our hospitals, services and programs.

Among our most generous and celebrated contributors are our Visionaries in Health. These donors are committed to helping Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care offer the very best health care close to home in all the communities we serve.

The word “amicus” derives from the Latin word for friend. It is fitting that our  premier giving honorary is named the Amicus Society. It includes our special friends who have chosen to support one of our sites, programs or funds by making gifts for the future in one or more of the following ways:

  • Including a gift in a will or living trust
  • Naming us in a charitable trust
  • Establishing a charitable gift annuity
  • Designating us as a beneficiary of assets
  • Making contributions from retirement plans
  • Gifting an insurance policy
  • Donating real estate or other non-cash assets
  • Initiating an endowment
  • Making a gift of securities

Many donors find they can make a more generous or meaningful gift by choosing to support their favorite hospital or program with a planned gift. All planned gift donors qualify for membership in the Amicus Society, which was created to recognize their foresight and kindness.

The Amicus Society also includes donors who have steadfastly given for over a quarter of a century and donors whose cumulative giving exceeds one-quarter of a million dollars.

How do I join the Amicus Society?

Membership in the Amicus Society is complimentary. There is no dollar minimum, and gifts need not be irrevocable to qualify for membership. Although a copy of the relevant portion of your estate documents (e.g. will or trust) or a narrative description of your plan would be helpful to us, you don’t need to disclose the amount of your gift to be considered a member.

Benefits of membership

Members receive a pin as a token of our appreciation. On occasion, members are listed on a Foundation honor roll. You may, however, choose to remain anonymous and still receive the benefits of membership. Other benefits are:

  • Special luncheon each year
  • Exclusive events, tours and programs
  • Updates on the impact of your gift
  • Information about the latest developments across Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care
