Advocate Christ Medical Center
Advocate Christ Medical Center opened in 1961 following a fundraising effort led by Southland community members. Thanks to the commitment of all who believe in its mission, Christ Medical Center has evolved into one of the top hospitals in the United States.
Area residents, physicians, business leaders and others continue to invest philanthropically to help ensure the best possible health care experience for patients, visitors and physicians in training. Donors help Christ Medical Center construct state-of-the-art facilities, acquire leading-edge technology and sponsor research, education and community outreach programs, among other initiatives. Now, in an era of declining reimbursements and increasing health needs, charitable gifts are more important than ever in ensuring local access to the very best care.
State-designated as both a Level I Trauma Center and an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics, Christ Medical Center also trains a new generation of emergency physicians. Your gift will help ensure the best possible outcomes for more than 100,000 emergency patients a year—including more trauma patients than any other hospital in Illinois—as well as enhance learning opportunities for the young doctors in the emergency medicine residency program.
Christ Medical Center is a premier referral center for cancer care in Illinois, with oncologists who have pioneered numerous procedures, therapies and treatment protocols. Your gift will help ensure a comprehensive continuum of care and services for hundreds of newly diagnosed cancer patients annually—as well as for the more than 1,200 who leave active treatment and transition into survivorship care each year.
Christ Medical Neurosciences Institute integrates a full array of treatments and expertise to address the many dimensions of neurologic care for adults and children. From brain tumors and stroke care to dizziness and balance disorders, our medical staff features some of the most experienced specialists in the region and the nation. More patients are treated at our accredited, comprehensive stroke center than anywhere else in the Chicago area. Our designation as a comprehensive stroke center means our stroke team has proven it treats the most complex cases and responds quickly to save brain cells and preserve quality of life. Philanthropy will help us provide advanced treatments and multidisciplinary approach to addresses the full scope of each patient’s specific needs.
The Heart Institute at Christ Medical Center is Illinois’ premier cardiac care center, performing more than 1,300 open-heart surgeries and 5,000 cardiac interventions each year, with health outcomes that top national benchmarks. Your gift will support the tradition of innovation and excellence—among other advancements—that enabled the first patient in Illinois to go home with a total artificial heart.
Christ Medical Center is a Level III (highest designation) perinatal center, with experts in maternal-fetal medicine and newborn care. Your gift will help ensure the best possible care for more than 4,000 families a year—the second-highest volume in the Chicagoland area—especially those experiencing high-risk pregnancies or complications during delivery.
Because Christ Medical Center is the one of two busiest trauma centers in Illinois, our orthopedic surgeons have experience treating some of the most complex orthopedic cases, enhancing their skill set for all procedures and surgeries. Our experienced team of orthopedic surgeons, podiatric surgeons, nurses and rehabilitation specialists are experts in their fields, performing nearly 5,000 surgeries each year and specializing in minimally invasive procedures, which can result in faster recovery and less pain. We also feature one of the few computer-assisted navigation surgical suites in Chicago, and offer the latest cartilage restoration techniques available today. Your gift will help our multidisciplinary team develop comprehensive and personalized treatment and recovery plans for each patient.
As a Magnet-designated facility for nursing excellence, we continually measure new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Nursing’s focus on these three areas drives evidence-based practices and research. These projects and the opportunities to present research at conferences are funded through charitable gifts raised. Support will be provided to nurses at every level to expand their nursing knowledge and transform the lives of individual patients, families and members of our communities.
